Client: One of the best known firms operating in the GIS domain out of India for international clients
Case: The firm was facing difficulties in matching the IP practices of its parent firm based in US leading to issues over the ownership of the IP created.
Solution: TechPackers interacted with the top executives of the firm to understand the business model of the firm and its international company structure. Based on its understanding, TechPackers advised the firm to conduct an IP audit to identify the IP created by the firm through its daily activities.
It then carried out the suggested IP audit through extensive consultation with the operations team and devised a model to assign ownership of the IP created based on the legal contracts among all the concerned entities. The exercise required a lot of technical and legal brainstorming in the service domain of the client.
As a result of the IP audit, TechPackers suggested the client to be proactive in identifying and procuring its IP. Thereafter, TechPackers has worked with the client to draft and file several patent applications at an international level.

	Case Study 2 Client: One of the most reputed US IP law firms. Case: The firm was on a lookout for a strategic partnership to outsource its patent search activities under a cost-saving model. Solution: TechPackers suggested an interesting business model to the client whereby the search needs of the client would be handled by its team in India at a low price- high quality offering. After the success of the initial pilot assignments, the client has been regularly availing TechPackers’ search services, thereby saving both time and money for core activities.

	Case Study 3 Client: A mid sized technology firm in the mobile software domain having offices in India, US and Europe. Case: The client’s technology was facing a possible infringement from bigger international players in the same business space. Solution: TechPackers conducted a global study of the client’s technology and business domain. The purpose of the report was to identify the possible infringers and device a strategy to combat any future infringement. TechPackers assessed possible scenarios of infringement and suggested combat strategies in each case in the best interests of the client keeping in mind its size and strength of its intellectual property. The report provided to the client also included the results of an IP valuation exercise conducted with the assistance of our best placed global IP attorneys.

	Case Study 4 Client: A start-up ‘alternate energy’ company based out of India. Case: The client has developed a unique process of producing alternate energy and setup a huge plant to produce the same. However, the client was not aware of the possible IP issues he might or should deal with. Solution: TechPackers helped the client with the basic IP procurement process and advised him on global patenting options. We are currently in the process of advising the client on possible IP deals that the client may undertake.
